1. What are the ELN schools of ministry like? Where are they located?
ELN schools of ministry are located around the country. For information about individual schools of ministry, visit the “Find an ELN Program”page and begin exploring the amazing options! You will find that, while there are some similarities, each program is unique due to its setting, specializations, and strengths.
2. What do I have to do to apply to an ELN program? Each program has its own application process, however, there are typically four basic parts of an application process: a personal application form, a pastor’s reference, a Christian friend’s reference, and an interview.
While many programs accept applications year round, you’ll want to begin this process soon to ensure a spot with the program of your choice. Go to the “Find an ELN Program”page to connect with the schools where you may want to apply.
3. How much does an ELN program cost?
Every program determines the cost for their school of ministry. Many programs charge a tuition fee of around $4,500 per year, covering most costs associated with the ELN experience (room and board, ministry activities, missions experiences, etc.).
Some programs allow payment plans, however, it is recommended that students secure tuition in advance so they can focus on growing and serving rather than on finances. Because of the nature of ELN programs, many students find that friends and family are willing to contribute financially. There are creative ways to fundraise as well! 4. Are scholarships available? Yes! Foursquare Women offer three annual scholarships to young women who are entering an ELN program to prepare for vocational ministry.

5. What would I be doing in an ELN program?
Every program’s schedule is unique but these are some common components: mentoring relationships, worship, personal devotional times, classes and homework, serving within church departments, community outreach, missions, and building relationship with program staff and other students.
6. Where do ELN students live?
In most programs, students live with trusted host families from the church, while other programs have their own student dorms. In either environment, your living arrangement will be an amazing way to build relationship with people who care about you and what you’re doing!
7. Is there an age limit for ELN programs?
Students participating in an ELN program must have a minimum of a high school diploma or its equivalency (GED). Each school of ministry determines specific age requirements.
8. Is it okay for me to take a year before starting college to participate in an ELN program? Many graduates have found that investing a year in an ELN school of ministry has better equipped them for their college experience. Having a solid life-foundation that is grounded on God’s Word has been an invaluable asset with which to face the challenge of a college environment. No matter where you are headed in your future, however, an ELN experience can be of real benefit—whether college, employment or ministry assignment.
In addition, some ELN programs use a curriculum that is directly transferable into specific colleges. Contact prospective ELN programs about how you can earn college credit through their programs.
